Four Star Game! You can make it as hard or easy as you desire. Same good graphics and nothing new in gathering yet, the birds haven't appeared just yet to antagonize me but I'm sure there will be something; but the nasty little bandits are back. Enjoying the assignments thus far. Glad to see this one appear this morning. Good job developers.

It has been several hundred years since the comet has passed over the lost island of Tapa-Tui. During this rare celestial event, the high priests hold a ceremony to honor the spirits of the elements, and ask for their protection. When Fimi-Am, the High Priest becomes ill, the Chief's twin children, Hika-Ri and Kao-Ri volunteer to perform the traditional rituals. Before performing the ritual, they must find four ancient constructions, known as the Elemental Gates, and learn to use mana and negotiate with the spirits of the elements. And so the saga continues......
Moai has always been one of my favorite Time Management game series, because it's not just a point and click here and there game, you actually have to use strategy! Moai V is crazy busy, and crazy challenging, right from the get go! (don't worry, there's an easy untimed mode) I actually thought about playing each level in the easy mode first, and then creating a second profile to replay the level in the timed mode, because if you don't do things just right, it's hard to finish the level with all 3 stars! These levels are certainly some of the busiest levels I've seen, and it's easy to overlook some minute tasks, not to mention making the right trading decisions to allow you to reach level goals.

Each level has treasure chests available which contain valuable artifacts and bonuses such as the Sandals of Speed which give the Moai a little more speed to get the job done. There are several different Artifacts to earn that will help you progress by increasing resources by a specific percentage, and other perks such as that. The Artifacts are kept in your backpack and you can choose a handful to apply before each level if you choose. Because you are playing this episode as the twins, both characters backpacks can be equipped.
There are the usual Time Management tasks to remove obstructions from pathways, plant crops for food, build sawmills for wood, quarries to produce stone, gold mines to build, repair destroyed property, fix broken bridges, collect resources, trade goods at the market and from merchants. Some of the building sites give you the choice of which building to construct, and you'll have to build them strategically in order to complete level goals. Trading items with merchants also have several options as well as quantities, which are super exciting, especially when playing in a Timed mode, it truly get the adrenaline flowing!
I can't say that I'm thrilled with the Collector's Edition version, because for me personally, I don't see the need for a few wallpapers and music soundtracks, especially for twice as much money, but I will say that if you don't mind the price, you won't be disappointed in this TM game.

sounds like an interesting game - alas, however, TM games are not my forte. I've tried some, but just not my cup of tea.

Some of the goals and obstacles are kind of baffling. It pays off if you've played others in the series. I'll keep trying the demo, maybe I'll connect a little more. By the way, what a big logo you have Big Fish! lol.

This game is very glitchy. Certainly not up to the quality of previous games, although it would be more enjoyable if things actually worked.

If you have never played in this series before then do not start with this one as the tutorial is practically non-existent and even what I would consider basic game instructions for each early level were totally absent. We have new tools/artifacts to use and figuring that out is not exactly organic. I was left baffled quite a few times and I have played all the ones before. That said, this offering gives us more challenges than previous versions and I suppose that's a good thing, but the basic play is the same as all previous versions (build/collect/etc.).

But I do need to go back to the "what the heck am I supposed to do" point; the total lack of early instruction (even how to use your new-found skill is missing) only leads to total frustration and I have no desire to replay early levels in order to achieve gold just so I can play a bonus level that is lacking instruction as well. The in-game strategy guide only gives strategy, few solutions, so you're on your own to pull your hair out over what order to light the fires, and then try to get more mana, sell ore, light fires again, nope, not right, repeat. This is a frustration task that does not belong in a TM game. So definitely avoiding this one as a CE and probably as an SE as well.

I have played just about all of this series of games. This is the most frustrating one I have come across so far. You have runes and other things on the side to put fires out, slow the ghosts down, but there are little furry creatures that will make your workers sick, there is a new thing that brings up a fence around you plots like the sunshine and that silly thing that looks like a turn handle object, whatever.

From level one on times I have had a problem getting all done in the time frame. It is one to play un-timed I think, to get used to it as it is very different and fast moving game.

It is a good challenge and if you like a game with a challenge I think you will find this one is very good.

I am liking this game but just finding it a bit frustrating as there is so much to do in most levels. Enjoy!

I cant decide if I like this one and I really liked the 3rd and 4th one. Don't know either if I want to get the collectors edition. Maybe I will play Moai 4 again and then decide if I want to get this new one.

I am SOOO disappointed! I really wanted to like this game and I bought it. Now I regret it. There are just too many gliches in it. I think Quality Control was on vacation and let this one slip by.

I have all of these games. The most annoying thing for me in this one and the last one is the amount of times you have to knock down and rebuild things to get enough goods to finish the levels.

used a coupon for this one. had a previously boughten game that no longer played, so was given the coupon for recompense. wasted that coupon on this game! i've bought the others and really enjoyed them. this one has a re-occurring glitch that i can not get past on level 21. the game just stops and quits the program due to an 'application' error. never had that happen before this game.
also, the strategy guide is a total waste. there are little or no instructions to the game such as how you get spells from your backpack. i really wish i had my coupon back!

Wasted my money on this one. too many different directions to go in and can't figure out how to use some of the artifacts. The guide is not that helpful and it is annoying to stop, go read and keep having to play over and over again just to still not make the level in time.

I own all the previous games in this series, but this one...*head tilts*...I'm not really feeling it. Like others said, I thought there's be something that reminded me how things worked since it's been about a year since I last replayed the games. Nope. If you're new to the series, don't bother. Seriously. If this was my first strat TM, I'd never play them again.

Someone else mentioned that you have to teardown to build new stuff (which the game does NOT explain). I used my entire demo time up and only got to level 5. The game mentions the backpack, but I forgot what it was. Peeped inside then remembered, but again, there's only a quick flash of text in the game that tells you what your backpack holds, but "to craft" is not much of a why.

I'm waffling on buying this not because of the unnecessary changes made to game play, but because of the glitch complaints. I know that those very rarely-to-never get fixed and I'd hate to waste money on yet another busted BFG game.

Bought this game based on my experience with the previous four in the series. Wow, what a mistake!

Totally agree with kgustavson : don't bother with the CE, and think before you leap on the SE.

The strategy guide is absolutely useless. Many levels I have to replay trying different ways to get gold. I believe the person who wrote the guide simply sits behind his/her desk and wrote it out without playing the game. I challenge him/her to show me how he/she got gold within the allotted time following his/her own guide. Eg. Hika-Ri Levels 15 and 35.

I've really enjoyed playing these games in the past but this one is just frustrating! The strategy guide is worthless and the extra levels are so difficult there's no way to get gold on a few on them; I've tried for days. Can't even get close and now I'm giving up. It's no fun if it's impossible. I don't think anyone actually played these levels before writing the guide or seeing if they are passable. Please give us a fix and try again. These are great games if they are able to be won!!

I too have played all of Moai and love them.
However, this one is very frustrating, disappointing and nowhere near as enjoyable as the previous Moai games (all of which I have played tens. if not hundreds, of times.

In previous versions, I have eventually been able to get all gold levels, but this one - no way can I get them, despite spending many many gaming hours playing. Yep - frustrating is the word.

The worst things about it are:

a. Like in the previous games, too hard to get all the Orichalcum required to upgrade all of your Equipment - designers could have been more generous with this ingredient.

b. I really dislike the levels where you have to e.g. light fires in a specific order - this isn't gaming skill but luck, and very time wasting.

Have never posted a negative review before, am a big time management games fan, but this one gets probably a 1 out of 5 for me.

I AM STUCK ON LEVEL 10 BUT AM GOING TO KEEP TRYING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLATS ABOUT BIG FISH, WHEN EVER I HAVE A PROBLEM THEY HAVE HELPED ME OUT AND REPLACED GAMES THAT WOULDN'T WORK FOR ME. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. SUZY
