I just bought the game and find I can't play it. I am one of those who has Windows 10. Please make this game playable using Windows 10.

Please let me know how I can copy this game's file so that I can play it on another PC that is not Windows 10.

Debby, you don't have to copy files over. Just sign in to Big Fish's website on the older computer and go to your purchase history. You'll then be able to download the game there and the game manager will automatically download as well. You will then be able to play Dire Grove on your old computer. I am still able to play DG on my old computer running Windows XP.

Thanks, FishyFemale. I tried that but I don't seem to be able to play in on my other computer which is XP either.

I just checked that my Windows 10 laptop has the latest version of Windows 10. And it does... I still can't play it.

I think I will be checking I with Tech Support at this point.

Just decided to replay one of my very favorite games, MCF: Dire Grove, CE, and discovered to my dismay that it no longer works because I have Windows 10. Extremely disappointed.

Also, the post by moderator bfgIlinalta offering an update on the situation in late 2016 offers a link to a page with possible helps for Windows 10, but the link is faulty--just gives an error message.

This is ridiculous.

@INGamePlayer
This works for people who cannot open a game whilst using windows 10, and also for some error codes.

I found this by accident on The Forgotten Fairytales forum but it worked for me. Change your screen resolution to something smaller, like 1680x1050, open the game and close it. Change the resolution back to original and open the game again. It worked for me on both games as neither would open but do now. Hope it helps.

-Remember that you can change the resolution back to your normal setting, and play the game in it, once you have opened and closed it in the lower one.

Good luck,
Sazoria.

Like all of the other comments I too have trouble with this Collectors Edition of Dire Grove. I have sent several Felix reports to technical support, and have NEVER received help. Just the generic please send a Felix report, which was already sent several times. I have just read your reply to another member in which you say they should be in contact with the "service representative" for help. What a nonsensical thing to say to any of us, who have already done this, only to be ignored! If you don't want negative comments on this forum, hen please provide the technical support we need. I am using the latest version of Win10 on my PC, I have played the game many times in other Windows versions, I bought the game, and would like to play a favourite game that I paid for. I know that I am not the only one here who is a club member and is frustrated by the lack of help in resolving the issue with Win10, so please help and fix the problem for all of us!

If you have the same problem as many others on this thread, with playing this game in windows 10 then please read my previous post, directly above yours, for a fix that has been proven to work with lots of people who can't play certain games in windows 10.
If it doesn't work for you then you must have a different issue than most.

As for what the BFG mods post on these threads, please remember that they are moderators hired top keep the forum clean, safe, and to send repeated tech problems to the relevant developers for patches etc. They are not there to give technical advice, they just try to help the best they can and request you contact the relevant teams so that you can get more targeted help.

I understand quite well what the Mods are there for and respect them for their jobs, HOWEVER; if Big Fish would actually read and get the tech people to
1. Respond with a sensible answer
2. Respond in a timely manner
and most of all
3. Respond with a fix, after numerous requests, and Dr. Felix reports, then all here who are posting the problems they atre having would not show up as there would be no problem!
Big Fish is happy to sell the product and of course receive my monthly club membership fees, so I think they have an obligation to customers to actually respond as I have noted above.

Hmm, well I know that tech support are a bit backed up at the mo, thanks to a post by a different fishy.
You said that they kept requesting that you send them a Dr felix report.
I take it that when you did this you performed the felix report and then afterwards attached it to an email to the big fish tech people?
This question is no reflection on your intelligence. I am simply asking because I have heard of some people who filled out the report and then didn't attach it to an email, assuming it would just be sent automatically and then wondering why big fish were just replying to their emails with requests for felix reports.
If you already did this then apologies, I just wanted to check, and in that case, backed up or not, there is no real excuse for Big Fish not at least replying to you to tell you that that is the case.

As for your initial problems, I heard that you tried the fix and it didn't work.
I'm very sorry about that as I know how much it sucks to not be able to play a game that you own.
I can only suggest making sure that before you try lowering the resolution, you make sure you haven't got any of the settings changed by any previous attempts to get the game to run i.e. make sure that the game is on it's default settings and not in ' run as administrator mode' or 'compatibility mode' before attempting the resolution fix. This is the best I can do although I know it's a long shot that it will help.
The resolution fix does work for a lot of games that have trouble playing because of compatibility with windows 10, so if you have any other games that will not play I would still suggest trying this fix before anything else.
Sorry again that I couldn't help and good luck with your games.

I also cannot play Dire Grove on Windows 10. Nothing seems to help, especially not tech support. I've always thought BFG had the best tech support around, but what I got when I asked straight up back in the spring if DG was unplayable on Win 10 and, if so, why does it say on the site that all games are Win 10 compatible was that they can't guarantee all computers with Win 10 have the same configurations or can run the same programs. They offered me a free game credit so I could replace DG with something I could play. I didn't want another game, just a straight answer about this one would do, thanks. Not the propaganda answer, just the real truth. DG is one of those games that BFG actually created back in the day when they were a game developer as well as a game portal and Picman still came onto the now-defunct ChitChat forum to talk. Yeah, I've been a member for waaaay too long. Seems that if they could re-code Huntsville and Prime Suspects to run on modern machinery they could give the first-ever collector's edition game a little love, too.
