Senior Citizens sign in!!

I have a question: I’ve been playing GD for about a year and a half and have yet to figure out what the attraction is with special event locations. You can rack up bricks or other commodities, but you can’t ship them out. Am I missing something? Full disclosure, I have yet to complete a SE location. Is there a humongous payout for completion?

memepat, some players like the event cities, others don't. They are just there if you want to do them but you are not forced to, its personal choice. As for shipping to or from them, no, you can't, but if you do one of them and make it to the end, having built all the monuments etc and have resources over, you can always buy green gems with them, but its usually not a lot left over anyway and not worth bothering about for most. they are more probably looked on as a small vacation for players, a change from whatever city they are in, others use them as a source to gain some extra gold coins to then use in other cities, particularly if they are struggling for any additional coins where they are. For myself and many other players who are the the latest city, its a change and something extra to do whilst waiting for the next city to become available. I am glad they put them on, it does add some interest and variety to the game and they can be a bit of extra fun.
I forgot to also mention, if you do complete an event city, you get a special stamp in your passport and for some, thats an attraction.

Trav3lbird, sorry I can't help you with your woes at the moment. Its odd it didn't ask you which game you would like to play as it should have detected the game on your device is different from the server and asked you which you want to play. At least it was only a handful of levels you lost and not an entire city or anything like that. Take a deep breath, chill out for now and go back to it later, it might be nice to you when you go there again. Failing all that, maybe you could post on the thread for mobile/pc problems and someone will get back to you from there, that way, you don't have to go through that details business over and over. Good luck.

Mostly the rewards for completing tier 3 and 100% are generous, especially as for 100% there are no expensive resource marts and a shipping port to build and upgrade. It is not so much about commodities as jules said, but if the city is an easy one there are quite a lot of coins (and boosts) to be earned.

memepat, some of the SE locations have been very simple to complete and therefore an easy way to rack up coins and resources. The resources can be converted into green gems, and there can be a substantial quantity of resource on easy SEs. Resources can also be sold each day rather than depleting resources at the normal cities. Rewards for completion can be good too.

I try to complete levels in SE's using an absolute minimum of boosts in order to maximise 'profit'. One of the HH in the lasted SE needs you to spend 350 coins so I certainly won't do that unless I have completed everything else at tier 3.

I usually try to complete all monuments in the special events as that gives several boosts, but if there are intern levels on the main path that require boosts I usually give up.

I’ve already used a few boosts to get through a couple of levels in Wild Plains, and just hit a 50 second timed level. I’m throwing in the towel on this event.

Just 2 HH in Wild Plains require a total of 750 coins between them. As 100% completion typically gives about 1000 coins it seems marginal whether completing is going to be worth while. I don't know what boosts will come with it so will continue for the time being.

jules, et al. - wish me luck ! My pc crashed and had to be replaced, and I don’t know if I can load my music library from Phone back to computer, as new pc will have newer version of iTunes, which is usually a problem.

If any of you out there have any experience with this, please let me know. Thanx

Sounds like a good reason not to get rid of the CD collections.

I do agree with you and I prefer the sound of a real CD player than listening music on a computer ....

Yeah, I agree, I now wish like heck I had held onto all my cds, over the years, I have got rid of a lot after putting them on the library on my computer, and some I had resold after buying them on both ebay and second hand, adding to the library and reselling as some were worth a fair amount, some not much of course, depended on each individual one. But even if I had burned copies of every one and put them away in a case that would have been a wise idea, but of course, I did not think I would need to keep master copies,. I will do that in the future, saves at least the bulk of the plastic cases in a cupboard or rack etc, and when you have hundreds of them, its a bit of space. We all learn by our mistakes don't we, and luckily I still do have a heap of cds, but its still only a fraction of what was on my itunes library.

On the subject of event cities and Wild Plains in particular, I am finding that for the very first time, I am NOT enjoying this one at all. Its very tedious doing levels over and continually losing them, I am not usually this frustrated at losing time after time but this lot is dreadful. I am only up to level 12 and although I have been working flat out for 4 days solid, I have had a go at it in spare time and at home and not been impressed at all so far. I will persevere, but am NOT spending coins on getting through it as I can't see the rewards being worth the effort. If anyone does get through it and gets any rewards, please let us know what it is.

I have not seen this posted. If this is a duplicate I apologize.
The rewards for completing Wild Plains are 200 coins, 4 lightning bolts, 4 lives, 3 extra times, and 6 shovels.
I certainly spent more coins and used boosts to finish than I received, but what are coins for anyway?

By the way, even my old ears can hear that mp3 and other audio treatments do not sound near as good on my audiophile system as compact discs or albums. I love my music and have since the 60's. I find the audio compression on digital music removes highs and often boosts the bass to much too strong levels. And don't get me started on bluetooth....

BTW....am NOT liking this event city WP is proving far too difficult for this old mind! And for music, love, love, love all my old albums....each time I play my Hotel California I am whisked back to the 70's when I was a teen and taking over the world....or I thought I was....anyway at least whisked back to when concert tix were $10 and pretty dang good seats! Now....I am too cheap to pay the hundreds it requires and plus it would mean I'd have to spif up, dress up and go out and fight crowds....thank goodness for memories and I hope those never fade...... I love y'all!

The 70s were awesome, we partied all the time

One way to protect your music collection is to make back up discs in case you want to restore it to a new pc, it is a good idea to make back up's of all of your files from time to time anyway, you never know when a device might fail.

I was determined to at least complete tier 1 of WP and did use some boosts to do so. I also paid for a couple of HH. Overall though I had more coins upon completion of tier one than when I started it (not many but some).
I did gain coins from the Sunday Daily Challenge which obviously helped. I am at a point where I can afford to use some coins to achieve the goal.

Fortunately I kept most of the CDs for my stereo system. I didn’t copy entire disks to the computer — I did it track by track — very time consuming. But, I can connect my iPhone (which has lot from the PC) into my old fashioned stereo tuner and the sound quality is pretty much still there. Not that I now listen at the same volume as a lot of us did in the 70s. Lucky my hearing is still acute after all that abuse.

Why is Gummy Drop like the Hotel California?

The 70s had great music, as did the 60s too. The music of today is very hit and miss, some great stuff, most pretty ordinary and just mashed out to fill airspace with rubbish. Too many upstart pop stars who think they are the best thing since sliced bread. Like you guys, I also prefer the REAL music through the last 50 years. I bought a cd a while ago of Mark Knopfler and EmmyLou Harris together, listened to the entire album on the way home from work in the car, brilliant music. Loved it. Fleetwood Mac's Rumors album is my favourite of all time, followed by Hot August Night. I listen to them a heap. Those are albums I refuse to part with. Also Paul Simon's Graceland. Went to the Queen concert lately with Adam Lambert. They were still sensational even though it was only two original members of Queen, and of course it goes without saying, that Freddie is irreplaceable, but Adam was absolutely amazing and I could have listened to them all night.

But Snowman, that bit you said above about Hotel California being like GD in that you can checkout but never leave, that is so true. But that song actually gave me the creeps.
