This is a tip for those starting out or have been playing a while now and found the Forum via "Community" menu selection and looking through this thread and seen this post.

Here is an idea of how to spend and save up your gold coins.

Refrain from gifting priced gifts such as keys, purple gerbera, peacock feather, ruby cowbery, for the 100 or 200 a piece when you are low level (less than 100) and working on unlocking other areas.

Wait until you have at least the following amount of coins;

285,000 Secrets of Paris

465,000 Times of Knights

650,000 Venice Canals

825,000 Japanese Mysteries - still new and the Wikia information for this is still under construction.

2,198,000 is the total needed

All totals are based on what I know to be true as I am only to Time of Knights, Venice Canals and Japanese Mysteries are according to the costs on the Wikia site.

If you really want to make sure you have enough saved up before you spend it on those priced gifts, or any other items that you can purchase for gold or crystal.

As for crystals you get the standard five for each time you level up, and every fifth day from the Gazebo of Mysteries when you log on or play the game as its called. In the Maya Maze or Rune as it is just called the GOLD chest also gives you 5 crystal. as I said you might want to save up on gold at least the minimum or more than needed to unlock the rooms in the new or next area when you open it to unlock every room, before you spend money on Rune Kits and you are going to want to go for the large kit of 15 random since the searcher kits cost XX amount of crystal which are more elusive to earn, at least until you get into the 100 level and up. To make up for what the kits that you earn in room drops is not enough to get through the maze, that gold chest also pays out the most experience at 200 points and the lesser silver pays out 50 with the bronze chest giving out 30 each time you reach and open them, However you may get coin (each 300) on the board, you DO NOT or Will Not get coin from the Chests. Most items in each chest are standard and set at ten or more of each.

So yeah as I said, this is just a guide to get an idea how much you need to unlock every room in the next area you unlock instead of only being able to unlock or or a few at first. I am not you so you play however you like, this is just to give you an idea of how you want to go about spending what you earn for coins and gems (crystals).

(continued) More about the cost of unlocking rooms in a new area unlocked, the cost is 55 crystals or gems as some call them per room in an area for SoP, ToK and Venice Canals, at 6 rooms per area is 330 crystals. I say save that Gold seeing it is much easier to come by than it is to obtain crystals through searching, level up, rune gold chest, 5th day of log in from Gazebo of Mystery and the Lottery Slot dropping either 1, 12, or elusive Jackpot at whatever amount at the time it is when and if you Hit it. Anyway it is best to save the crystal for other more meaningful items but only use as a last resort say time if running out for an offer that requires the purchase of with crystals for an item to finish said task. But that is just my advice. Then again if you are willing to spend a hundred to buy crystals at normal amount for that price, or when you got a maya worth double or best yet triple the amount for same price. Something I would rather not do and prefer to earn crystal/gem through playing.

CHANGE MODE (ROOM AND GHOST) CARDS:

Is there any "trick" to using the witch's card to change the room mode?

The witch always shows all the cards, turns them over (so you just see the backs), mixes them up, and then you have to pick one, while face down.

My question is this:
Is the room mode that I want always going to be to the left - or right - of where it was when it was showing?

Same goes for Ghost mode.

Is there a trick to it?

I've spent way too much energy trying to get a room into a certain mode. Any help will be appreciated. - I did read earlier to go ahead and change the room right away if you've searched it in the mode you want and don't find what you are being asked to find. That was a good piece of advice. Still, I wonder if there isn't a "method" to how those cards are always mixed .... Anyone know?

marliza, I've had frustrating problems with this, too ! Now that I have more cards to play with, I've noticed that there seems to be no particular pattern. But I try to notice where the cards are before the shuffle, then choose the card I want from where it was before. Sometimes I get lucky and get it or the mode just before; but if it is way off I will go in the opposite direction, so to speak. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't ; then you have to decide between spending more cards or just playing through!

thanks, ms smith. I keep thinking there is some kind of pattern and it is really making me nuts! ... I try to keep my cards for when I most need them, but the tasks I am getting now keep asking for searching in certain modes! .. and the ghosts are unbelievable! so many! I go through my cards real quick! ... then have to play through. Glad to know i'm not the only one who can't out-whit the witch!

I think there may actually be some sort of pattern but you never play the same room/area long enough to realize it.

It was after reading your first post while i was doing the steins lab offer yesterday.

One task "search room in night mode" i shuffled clicked the middle card (i usually select the middle one first for no real reason) and it came up dismantled, not paying attention to the placement of the remaining cards i shuffled again i had to do this night mode three times as item didnt drop first two... and all three times dismantled came up first in the middle and night was the next card right from the middle on the second shuffle.

This is when i thought... Hmmm and paid more attention on the next time round...

Later in the same offer "search dismantled etc" i shuffled from shadow mode selected the middle got dismantled.. and watched the remaining cards... in this instance they went day/night/dismantled (the one i choose)/reversed/jumbled searched the room item didnt drop changed mode/shuffle from day mode select middle and dismantled was there again and a third time (in a straight row) and each time from day mode the remaining cards went shadow/night/dismantled(i chose) reversed/jumbled.

Now this might have just been a quirk of this particular offer or random coincidence.. one will never really know, but there really might be some sort of pattern no one has had enough of the same instance to realize it.

There is a pattern most of the time. I believe that Clashfan first pointed it out somewhere back in this thread. It is the same in every room.

watch the pattern of how the card moves which is the mode you want. I usually don't have to use more than 3 tries to get the one I want. I always start with the position it was in before I hit the shuffle button.

I remembered reading something here about this in my early days, but finding the post was making me nuts!
Finally found it:
http://forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/403547.page#6005758

First paragraph sums it up:
SunFlash wrote:When you change the mode about 75% of the time you will get the one you want by clicking on the same place that it was in before the "shuffle." This is more true for the regular mode than for the Ghost Mode.

Based on that post, I always click the mode I want, or 1 to the left of the mode I want. And that lands me where I want to be, or close to it much more often than it would if this was a true random shuffle.

It doesn't work every time, and it doesn't seem to work for ghost modes at all.
But for normal mode changes, I end up close to where I want to be in 1 shuffle maybe 80% of the time.

The Following I quote of what I typed myself in another thread pertaining to Talismans for Energy, as well as Coins, Experience and Finding Objects (Dropped Items).
forums.bigfishgames.com/posts/list/711014.page

Normally at most its 5 minutes without VIP per EP and so with it would be 2:30 (2 minutes and 30 seconds).
Thus with VIP and:
SET (Strong Energy Talisman) cuts the time to 1:30 (1 minute 30 seconds) for 12:00:00 (12 Hours).
ET (Energy Talisman) would bring it to 0:30 (30 seconds, half a minute) for 30:00 (30 minutes).
IP (Invisibility Potion) would bring the time down to 0:25 (25 seconds) for 20:00 (20 minutes).

Just to put things into a better/clearer perspective.

(At the time I typed this post I am using SET)

So yes, If you get the VIP, you can still use a Talisman for each purpose on top of it, but you CAN NOT use TWO or more similar Talismans (energy, experience, gold, finding objects/drops), You are Only Allowed ONE of each of the four types of Talismans at a time. So if you want to use another, you have to select remove in the prompt window when you go to use the new talisman. So its best to be patient and watch when the first energy, experience, etc, talisman times out to use the next talisman.

Also note via same thread and another similar thread or two that many note of little or no significance of increase in energy, experience, or gold for those talismans. Though with VIP you do get the extra, energy (double points due to time taking half of normal), experience, and gold. The increase experience and gold is shown when you click on the area you want to explore in a drop down from the main line of what you originally get from the room in the pop-up/prompt window. So it is safe to say that it is ultimately up to you If and When YOU want to use any of the experience or gold talismans for an additional boost, depending on how long you are about to play for or how many of them you have assembled and in the BP (Backpack).

The ghost/mode thing is always a challenge.

From long ago there was a post or two with suggestions which seem to work for me.

The ghosts move two spaces during the shuffle. I tend to think they move two spaces to the left.

The mode moves one space during the shuffle. I tend to guess they move to the right, but that doesn't always seems to be the case.

Pearls, what are they for?

Well they are mainly used to pay for entering Tournaments;

Competitions = 5
Duels (Fights) = 6
Knockout = 5
Here is an excerpt from what I wrote in another thread:

Just to get an idea of how many pearls you get per gem:

Handful of Pearls - 25 for 5 = 5/gem
Pearl Shell - 60 for 10 = 6/gem
Pearl Purse - 130 for 20 = 6.5/gem
Pouch of Pearls - 250 for 50 = 5/gem
Jewelry Box with Pearls - 600 for 100 = 6/gem
Chest with Pearls - 1200 for 150 = 8/gem

What a margin for the Chest with Pearls.

So if you need Pearls, and the ones that drop when you search rooms or play the slot lottery every day after 5 pm (DST- Summer = Spring Forward) or 4 pm (DST - Winter = Fall Back). Best to Save up those gems you earn from lottery slot as well as, leveling up (Exploring or Fighting = Dueling) and the Maya Rune (Gold Chest) and so get the Chest with Pearls.

They are also used for a few Halloween type events which one can easily unlock for 2,000 coins per area/room to buy the entry items (Safety Goggles, .

Think of;

Gazebo of Mystery = 5 - Purple Gerbera (100 gold each in gift store)

then there are/is;

Ifrit Palace = 5 - Peacock Feather (100 gold each in gift store)
Hobbit Hut = 5 - Ruby Cowberry (100 gold each in gift store)
Water Mill = 5 Golden Grain (100 gold each in gift store)
Labyrinth of Dragons (Mystery of Dragons) - 5 Dragon Egg
in The Bellow's Manor of your map.

Event Dungeons;
Autumn Labyrinth (Groundhog Day) = 5 Autumn Key (200 gold each in gift store)
Karstic Meadows (Lairiel's Voice) = 5 Jade Key (200 gold each in gift store)

Gift Store = Golden Man > Gifts > Select a Gift (or) mouse over a friend/neighbor's profile and select "Gift" then "Select a gift" tab. Use single arrow as it moves you a page at a time either forward or back (left or right), where as using the double arrow moves you a page forward and two pages back.

Much of this info is Not yet Available in the wikia wiki.

I am using my time zone of EDT or -5 UTC as a base example. Thanks for your concern, as posting is limited to XXXX amount of characters or words. So yes I know and sure others know that tme varies from zone to zone.

Would be nice if there were some responses as pertaining to what time zone one lives and the Summer and Winter time change happens in their zone for when the Award and Trophy, Neighbors areas and gifting refresh daily, not including the Challenge of the day which is a hour later.

(Update) Eastern Daylight Time is my time zone code, the game resets per UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).

For more info on time difference see:

Competition - Having experienced this myself just a short while ago that if you go into play with others and they suddenly opt out at the last second leaving you by yourself DO NOT REFRESH as it will cost you those precious pearls. You will still play, just by yourself and though you won't win a chest since it requires at least two for third place chest for first place winner or second place chest with three of you pitted against each other. YOU will become and automatic Winner which will count toward the Trophy for Victory if its one that requires you to win 10 times.

So again I say DO NOT refresh if you find yourself alone in a Competition as you will get first place and still lose 5 pearls for no reward for the win though losing those pearls and getting a win makes more sense than refreshing out of the round and you will not get that win toward the Award/Trophy for Victory that requires ten wins even if you just need that one last winning round.

It would be like exploring a room normally, you will just have 2 minutes to find as many objects as you can instead of having the normal 3+ minutes for normal searching.

My routine on RoM is:

1. Refresh page. You want to make sure the expedition/rune maze help page is up-to-date.

2. Help those critters out.

3. Work on the Rune Maze. Three chests with pieces for relics, crystals, cards, refreshing dew, gerbana flowers.... Nice. And you can get the bonus crystals, energy, experience, etc. I've got over a thousand Gerbanas, and twice that of Peacock Feathers from doing this.

4.Wait for the Challenge of the Day to update. Sometimes, all you want to do is just farm gold by visiting your neighbors. So if the Challenge is to visit your neighbors or chase away their ghosts, you can get a nice bonus.

5. When I feed the neighbors creatures, I pay attention to the 100 coin ones. Except for the Unicorn/Dryad/Tree ones. By playing the Rune Maze, I've got over 800 Refreshing Dew accumulated. This way, there's over two thousand berries in my inventory, because I had so much to feed those critters.

6. When I'm playing offers, I look ahead at the artifacts and the charges needed. Some of the charges are giftable, so I put them on my wish list before I start looking for the items.

7. If I'm not working on an offer, I'll scan ahead on the artifacts I'm close to assembling, like Ghost Trap or Denial of Gravity, and make sure I have those charges ready, too. T

8. Mayan Pyramids. No one has figured out what they are for. I'll assemble the artifacts that make up the Pyramid, but it's not worth expending any coin/crystal/creature card to get the Unicorn at Bellows Manor to cough up the charges needed for it. If it drops, it drops.

9. I don't do the competitions, so I convert the pearls into gold. I use them to buy potions, then sell the potions.

10. I have a lot of neighbors, far more than I can gift. When I visit, the ones who have the free charges on their wish lists and regular items I have more than 5 of, I'll gift on the spot. The ones with empty slots, I give flints or ore. I switch from which end I gift to from night to night, so one night I'll start with the newbies and the next night I'll start with the experienced folk. This way, I hope to give everyone something over the week.

11. I've gotten better at finding stuff, but I used that tip on taking a screenshot of a room and notating the location of various objects. It really helped!

11. Weekends and nights I have insomnia, I'll hit up the rune maze every five hours to make sure I can accumulate as many crystals as possible.

8. Mayan Pyramids and the artifacts for making it are for the Portal in the Manor. Also there is an event or side quest as its considered related to St Patricks day that requires you to assemble 5 Celestial Dreambooks and 18 Mystic Drinks which is noted in the wiki.
Along with a few other side quest which require past artifacts you made per Major of Guild tasks.

Also
9. If you look below the Challenge of the day and the events you will notice a Trophy for Victory and Award for Participation for Duel or Competition and the one for Competition is necessary since every day it gives out a specific amount of each Gadget which you use for helping you search a room in normal exploration. One of those Gadgets which you can get from chest you also get 5 for winning First place 10 times within the 24 hours and this is the best way of getting those pesky hammers which drop very far and few in rooms searching. Though you may want to first gain some speed and level up quite a bit as well to at least 100 before going in since you will be pitted from time to time against heavy players. Do know you must find the objects as they are highlighted, going out of order will net you nothing but a loss of 10 or more points per miss.

As for duels the same goes as those Gear items of epic and especially rare value increase your energy shield (Defense) and other dueling factors and this is also a game like as with competition but you do not have to pick out items in order, it is a free find but you have a limited time per turn. See threads on Dueling and Dueling Tips.

Do remember that the greatest reward aside from the items is the fact you won each round and overall improve your own skill.

11. You do not need to take a screen shot, just look up the games wiki and you find Screenshots already from the rooms in Bellow's Manor, Secrets of Paris, Times of Knights and Venice Canals, So you do not have to take your own unless you want to composite together all the objects spots together into one screenshot. Those help at first but if you got good memory you can pretty much do it on your own once you get to the Master level of each room and man objects are in more than one room.....

Re:Sharing some tips for the game.

[Post New]by Trucker1979 on Jun 6, 16 11:52 PM
Same goes for a number of Side quests with Rooms and most older events with wiki Info will also already have screen shots on the related rooms own page in the wiki.

11 (you mean 12, I assume you were sleepy) I do this as well, even if I do not stay awake long enough for the refresh once it happens, but even if you do not get back to it the Rune Maze layout does not refresh every five hours you are not searching it, it only refreshes after five hours from the moment you enter it so do make sure you have enough coin to buy the LARGE kit as its the best way to net more blue/red and those pesky black/yelllow runes.

The GOLD chest in the top left corner is the only one in the Rune maze that pays you gems at 5 each time. the chest pay out in order 30 xp from the Bronze (left bottom), 50xp and Energy Jam (worth 50 points) from the Silver (top right) and 200xp and 2 Phase Watches (extends search time in room exploration by 30 second each time used) from the Gold. All three give you items for artifacts pieces to Maya Pyramid relic and other artifacts for Pearl Legend event along with a few extra artifacts once the task manager gives as you complete the tasks in order and per the task. NEVER ASSEMBLE AN ARIFACT OR RELIC UNTILL YOU ACCEPT THE TASK TO DO SO.

That goes without saying I am not saying to Not assemble the Maya pyramid artifacts and relics, you are permitted to do so, but do remember as I said that both the Celestial Dreambooks and Mystic Drinks are need for the Leprechaun's Tricks event when it is around for St. Patricks Day. The ones you already assembled may not be counted towards the event (longer time players can chime in if I be wrong) so you will want to make sure you got 5 and 18 respectively of each piece to each artifact.

The Wikia doesn't have that info. Huh. LOL, there was a topic here about it and no one else knew what it was for either. Guess we all forgot the Portal thing, since it was so early on in the game.

[Post New]by Trucker1979 on Jun 7, 16 2:38 AM
Yeah even I almost forgot about those artifacts to the relic as well after I first assembled, I even have extra of two of those which are staying in my BP.

It's in the wiki under RoM - Quests - Major as all items to portal upgrades to the next area are Major Tasks and anything listed Guild in the Task side bar is for Valley of Magicians. Those without a Major, Guild or Event badge at the base of the task icon are random which are for bonus points and coins which you can do as you accept them when they appear.

As I said, you are welcome to assemble them as many times as you like, say if you are out of energy points and that close to leveling up, putting more of any artifact you got all the pieces and charges for is a great way of getting those last few XP to the next level.

However, you may want to make sure you refer to the wiki RoM Quest-Side Quests and also thhe Events tab at the charts/lists and make you save enough for when the event comes around to assemble past artifacts that are needed for that (right hand side list) event.

Also if you got 70 or more crystals/gems, it is a great idea to go for the 30 Day VIP so you can gather up coins for the Rune Kits so when you need to buy more Large Kits to get the Runes you need both blue/red and especially the black/yellow runes to get to the chest or dragon depending on what maze you do. Since as you also will need to gather and ave up all much coins for when you get into a new are to unlock all rooms at once if possible instead of one or two or three at a time and leaving you with little to no coins for the rest of the area rooms or for Rune Kits.

If you ask why I suggest getting the Large Kits for the Runes. from my experience they cost as much as medium and small combined...
